My story begins long before my own at the intersection of engineering, culture, and movement.

Both of my grandfathers, French and Spanish engineers, were contracted by the United States to help design and build the Panama Canal. When the project was complete, they stayed. Panama became home, and our family story became rooted in a place defined by connection and global exchange.

I was born into a diplomatic life. My father rose through the foreign service to become an Ambassador, and I was born while my parents were serving in India. From there, the world became my classroom. I grew up living across the Far East, Europe, and South America, absorbing art, architecture, culture, and human experience in its full range. Alongside beauty and innovation, I also witnessed poverty, struggle, and resilience. Those contrasts shaped how I see the world and my responsibility within it.

When my parents retired, they returned to Panama. I completed my education in English-speaking schools and became fluent in multiple languages. Today, I remain fluent in Spanish and English. My formative years in Panama were defining, creative, open, and deeply human. Leaving was difficult, but necessary.

I came to the United States to study, knowing I was drawn to making things but not yet knowing what that discipline was called. I began in aeronautical engineering, attracted to structure, precision, and performance. It didn’t take long to realize that while I loved systems, my passion was for shaping them visually, physically, and experientially. That discovery led me to industrial design.

I chose the Columbus College of Art and Design not for its size or prestige, but for its intimacy and focus on craft, thinking, and making. It was there that my life took an unexpected turn. I met my wife. What I imagined would be a life of constant movement became something far more grounded and meaningful. Thirty-three years later, with three children, that decision remains the most important design choice I’ve ever made.

My career began broadly, freelancing in toy design, automotive work, and product development until another unexpected opportunity appeared. I was asked to design a trade show exhibit. I had never designed one before. I accepted the challenge.

That single decision evolved into a thirty-year career in experiential, environmental, and exhibit design. An industry defined by constant change, fast problem-solving, collaboration, and reinvention. Few people truly understand it unless they’ve lived inside its pace and pressure. I have been fortunate to work with remarkable teams, visionary clients, and trusted collaborators. Some relationships grew from opportunity, others from shared respect but all shaped the work and the person I became.

Today, my practice continues to evolve integrating strategy, systems thinking, sustainability, emerging technology, and new tools that redefine how ideas are visualized and delivered. The work presented here represents both the culmination of decades of experience and the beginning of what comes next.

If you’ve taken the time to read this, thank you.

I’d be glad to hear your story.
